Ryan Smith

Ryan Smith, Ed.S., CSML, is an experienced elementary school principal currently leading Johnson Elementary School and serving as the Professional Learning Chair for Region 7 of MEMSPA. With a strong foundation in restorative and trauma-informed education, Ryan has dedicated a significant portion of their career to promoting equity and social-emotional learning in schools. Holding multiple degrees, including an Educational Specialist degree from Wayne State University and a Professional Learning Certification from Harvard University, Ryan has also been recognized as the Outstanding Elementary School Teacher of the Year for the Novi Community School District in 2021. Passionate about literacy development, Ryan is furthering their expertise through the Lexia LETRS for Admin program and has led various professional development initiatives focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
