Jim Patterson

Director of Kutler Center & Summer School Programs at Harvard-Westlake School

Jim Patterson is the current Director of the Brendan Kutler Center at Harvard-Westlake School, where the focus is on fostering interdisciplinary studies and independent research. In addition to this role, Jim Patterson serves as the Summer Program Director, overseeing a program that hosts over 1600 students for academic and artistic enrichment, as well as athletic camps. Previous positions include Upper School Dean, where Jim Patterson provided academic advising and college counseling, and a math and science teacher, instructing high school students in physics and advanced mathematics. Jim Patterson has also graded AP Calculus exams for Educational Testing Service and taught precalculus at UCLA's Summer Program for High School Students. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Physics from California State University, Northridge, a Master of Education from the University of La Verne, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Harvey Mudd College. Continuing education has been pursued through Independent School Management and Harvard University, as well as training at the Stanley H. King Counseling Institute.
