Founder and President at Hydrobee

Burt Hamner has a long career in the cleantech industry. From 1992 to 1998, they were a consultant for USAID, managing cleantech and cleaner production promotion in SE Asia. In 1997, they became a professor of Operations Management at the Asian Institute of Management, where they also taught Environmental Management and helped implement an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. In 1998, they were a consultant for the Asian Development Bank, writing a national Cleaner Production Strategy for the Thailand Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. From 2002 to 2007, they were a professor of Accounting and Environmental Management at Universidad del Pacifico, teaching Environmental Accounting for Management, organizing and teaching executive education on sustainable business management, and conducting research on socially responsible investment for the national pension fund. In 2007, they became the CEO of Hydrovolts, Inc., a company that makes small river and tidal turbines to make renewable distributed energy from canals, streams, spillways, rivers and tides. In 2012, they founded Cleantech Mentor LLC, a management consulting firm for cleantech entrepreneurs and organizations promoting entrepreneurship in the cleantech areas. In 2014, they became the President of Windbase Offshore, the exclusive representative in New England for the Titan Offshore Energy Platform. In 2013, they founded Hydrobee SPC Inc., an entrepreneur in distributed clean energy generation. Burt was nominated for a Chasing Genius award by National Geographic and Hydrobee's Personal Power Plant and mobile financing model, invented and patented by him, won the 2014 national Business for Good competition of the Social Enterprise Alliance, the SXSW V2Venture contest for Innovative World Technologies, and Global Top 30 Cleantech Award from the Global Cleantech Clusters Association. In 2020, they founded Sustainability CPE Inc., a company that offers online on-demand Continuing Professional Education in Sustainability Accounting for CPAs.

Burt Hamner's education history includes an MBA in Marketing from the University of Washington's Michael G. Foster School of Business, obtained between 1986 and 1988. Burt also obtained an MMA in Marine Technology Management from the University of Washington between 1984 and 1988. Prior to that, they obtained an AB in History of Science from Harvard University between 1979 and 1983. Burt'seducation began with a GED from Cardinal Mindzenty Catholic School in the Republic of Palau, obtained between 1975 and 1979. Additionally, they obtained a Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting - Level II Candidate certification from the SASB - Sustainability Accounting Standards Board in June 2020.
