Dr. Thorsten Büring

Dr. Thorsten Büring has held several positions throughout their career. Beginning in 2003, they worked as a Programmer/Test Engineer at Accenture Technology Solutions. Dr. Thorsten then moved on to work as a Post-doc and Lecturer at Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich, where they supervised various user-interface projects and conducted research in Human-Computer Interaction and Information Visualization. In 2008, they joined Zühlke Engineering AG as a Principal Consultant, specializing in UX and Requirements Engineering. At IS Fact AG, they served as a Senior Project Manager for Software Development, overseeing the implementation and operation of auctioning SaaS products. From 2017 to 2022, they worked at PwC Deutschland as a Senior Product Owner, leading the development and management of cloud-based SaaS products and spearheading the Agile Transformation. Most recently, they joined HYPE Innovation as the VP of Product, leading a team of product managers and designers in building innovation management software for large enterprises.

Dr. Thorsten Büring attended the Universität Trier from 1997 to 2000, where they completed their Vordiplom in Economics. Dr. Thorsten then enrolled at the Universität der Künste Berlin from 2000 to 2002 and obtained a Diplom Designer in Electronic Business. Following that, they pursued an MSc in Information Technology at the University of Glasgow from 2002 to 2003. Finally, they attended the University of Konstanz from 2004 to 2007, where they completed their Dr. rer. nat. in Human-Computer-Interaction / Information Visualization, supported by a scholarship from DFG.
