Patrick Mead

Patrick Mead, Ph.D., serves as Senior Design Director at Hypergiant since June 2023 and holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, teaching Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) principles for AR and VR design. Patrick has contributed as a part-time advisor for VideoRay, focusing on HCI and Human Factors design for VR and AR applications. Previously, as a Senior Human Factors Engineer at Kaia Health, Patrick led the development of a digital therapy app and its research strategy. At General Dynamics Mission Systems, Patrick managed the Internal Research and Development portfolio and led UX efforts for hypersonic weapon systems. Prior experience includes a Senior Human Factors Research Scientist role at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, where Patrick secured significant funding for HCI and AR/VR initiatives. Patrick earned a Ph.D. in Human Factors and Applied Cognition from George Mason University, a Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor's Degree in the same field from Virginia Tech.
