Sean Thal

Sean Thal has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Sean is currently the Director of Solutions Architecture at Hypergiant, where they lead a team in connecting critical C2 systems to AI-enabled UI/UX on a modern microservices infrastructure. Prior to this, they served as a Principal Architect at Hypergiant as well.

Sean also has a background in the United States Air Force, where they held several leadership positions. Sean served as an Assistant Director of Operations, leading a team of airmen and overseeing squadron training and exercises. Sean also worked as the Deputy Chief of Standards and Evaluation, responsible for managing the aircrew evaluations program and advising the squadron commander on evaluation trends and strategy development. In addition, they served as the Chief of Engineering & Liaison to the CRC Program Office, liaising between the US Air Force ACC and AFMC for acquisition, delivery, and sustainment requirements.

Further in Sean's work history, they had roles at Terraline as a Senior Manager System Test, where they were responsible for setting up the Test and Validation process for the most advanced Battery Electric Class-8 Truck. Sean obtained certification as a TUV-SUD Functional Safety Engineer and applied the skills to develop safety cases and testable safety goals.

Additionally, Sean worked at Raytheon Solipsys as a Principal System Engineer, where they served as the Technical Lead for the Air Force Business Development team, focusing on Joint All Domain Command and Control. Sean also had experience as a Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company, responsible for design review and compliancy verification of nuclear refueling equipment and safety cranes.

Lastly, Sean began their career at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as an Engineer, conducting research and design in support of the Exoplanets and Stellar Astrophysics Laboratory. Sean utilized various engineering software packages during their time there.

Sean Thal completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Puget Sound in 2008. Sean then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Southern California from 2008 to 2010. Lastly, they obtained a Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University, completing their studies in 2018.
