Chase Smith is an aerospace engineer at HyperSciences, Inc. since August 2021, focusing on the development of supersonic and hypersonic accelerators for applications in drilling, tunneling, and space launch. Prior experience includes serving as a graduate student research assistant at the University of Washington, where optimization of the Axisymmetric Ram Accelerator was conducted through testing and modeling, and as a teaching assistant leading laboratory and recitation sections for statics and junior lab courses. Chase also worked as a student research assistant at the Heavy Ions Lab at the University of Colorado at Boulder and as a student assistant in the Physics Department. Chase holds a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics with a plasma concentration from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics with minors in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder.
