Mark Romano has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Mark is currently working as a Research and Development Engineering Manager at Hysata since August 2021. Prior to this, they worked at AQUAHYDREX, INC for several years, where they held various positions including Senior Process Engineer, Team Leader - Catalyst Development and Testing, and Research and Development Engineer. During their tenure at AQUAHYDREX, Mark demonstrated expertise in electrochemistry and characterization techniques, resulting in the development of electrodes for electrolysis and publishing 2 patents. Mark also played a key role in the design and validation of a device for testing product reliability, which led to over 5000 hours of continuous run time. Mark's project management skills were evident in spearheading a cross-functional team that developed the electrolysis module fabrication process and resolving process issues using lean six sigma tools. Mark also managed a team of engineers, chemists, and technicians, developed talent, and resolved conflicts. As a Technical lead for catalyst formulation supply chain, Mark built relationships with external vendors and resolved issues related to raw materials. Mark also demonstrated advanced knowledge in powder/slurry mixing systems and successfully balanced activities related to technician training and supervision, electrode production, and continuous improvement of electrode production process. Prior to their role at AQUAHYDREX, Mark worked as a Tutor/laboratory leader at the University of Wollongong from July 2010 to May 2013. Mark also gained teaching experience as an Instructor at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where they taught various subjects in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Mark mentored students in the use of analytical lab equipment and operated scanning electron microscopes. Mark started their career as an Intern at Texas Instruments, where they conducted a study on co-planarity issues of ball grid array (BGA) units and assisted in projects related to the encapsulation department of BGA units.

Mark Romano completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Metallurgical Engineering at the University of the Philippines in 2003. Mark then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the same university from 2003 to 2008.

Following their master's degree, Mark Romano enrolled at the University of Wollongong, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Materials Chemistry from 2010 to 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Mark Romano has obtained several certifications. Mark completed the "Quality Tools (DOE, MSA, Hypothesis Test, Regression and statistical analysis)" course at CBIS - Comprehensive Business Improvement Solutions P/L in May 2014. Mark has also completed the "Programming Foundations: Fundamentals" course at LinkedIn in October 2020 and the "Learning Python" course at LinkedIn in September 2021.
