Alan Spoon

Alan G. Spoon has been a director of IAC since February 2003. Since May 2000, Mr. Spoon has been General Partner at Polaris Venture Partners, a private investment firm that provides venture capital and management assistance to development-stage information technology and life sciences companies. Mr. Spoon was Chief Operating Officer and a director of The Washington Post Company from March 1991 through May 2000 and served as President from September 1993 through May 2000. Prior to that, he held a wide variety of positions at The Washington Post Company, including President of Newsweek from September 1989 to May 1991. Mr. Spoon is currently a member of the boards of directors of Danaher Corporation. In his not-for-profit affiliations included WETA (Washington, DC public television and radio) and the Norwood School (Bethesda ,MD), where Mr. Spoon served as chairman. Mr. Spoon is also Vice Chairman of the Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents, a trustee on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Corporation, and is a member of The Council on Foreign Relations and Committee for Economic Development (CED).
