Michael Gillen

Michael Gillen has extensive experience in the fields of occupational safety and health, policy influence, and education. Currently serving as the Head of OSH and Senior Executive for BioPharmaChem Ireland at Ibec since February 2000, Michael represents members' interests in areas like environment, health and safety, and employment law. As Vice Chairperson and Chairperson of the Executive and Management Boards at the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) since January 2021, Michael continues to shape safety policy on a broader scale. Previous roles include Board Member at the Health & Safety Authority, Director of the Irish BioIndustry Association, and several positions in academic and research environments. Michael holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin and diplomas in Employment Law and Safety Health & Welfare at Work.
