Eric Zhang

Research Staff Member - IBM Quantum

Eric Zhang is an accomplished researcher and manager with a strong background in quantum devices and photonics. At IBM, Eric held multiple roles, including Postdoctoral Researcher in Physical Sciences, where development of photonic integrated chip sensors was conducted for infrared spectroscopy, and Manager of the Device Yield and Characterization Group, leading efforts to improve superconducting qubit quantum processors' performance. Eric also served as a Research Staff Member focused on the frequency control and optimization of superconducting circuits for quantum computing. Prior to IBM, Eric completed a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Princeton University, where research focused on noise mitigation techniques for laser spectroscopy and sensor technologies, while also contributing as a Teaching Assistant in Electromagnetic Field Theory and Optics. Eric holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto.
