James Rasell

James Rasell is a highly experienced engineer specializing in distributed systems and infrastructure. Currently serving as a Senior Engineer II in the Nomad team at IBM since September 2025, Rasell previously held similar roles at HashiCorp, contributing to the Nomad project from February 2020 to September 2025. Prior to that, Rasell worked at Joyent as a Distributed Systems Engineer and spent several years at Elsevier in various engineering roles, including Principal Systems Engineer and Systems Engineering Lead. Additionally, Rasell has experience from positions at Elsevier | Mendeley, NetNames, and PGS, starting a career in technology as a Computer Operator. James Rasell holds a BSc in Earth and Planetary Science from Kingston University, completed in 2008, after graduating from Dartford Grammar School.
