Malcolm Carroll

Malcolm Carroll is a Senior Member of Research Staff at IBM, where they apply their expertise in quantum hardware and error suppression. They previously served as a Managing Principal Research Physicist at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and were a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories from 2003 to 2020. Malcolm's career began at Lucent Technologies/Bell Labs and continued through positions at Agere Systems and IBM Research. They earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, along with a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and pursued additional studies in physics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and Technical University of Munich.
