Roger schmidt

IBM Fellow

Roger Schmidt is an IBM Fellow with over 35 years of experience in engineering and engineering management, specializing in the thermal design of IBM’s large-scale computers. They currently serve as IBM’s Chief Engineer on Data Center Energy Efficiency and lead the Advanced Thermal Energy Efficiency Lab. Roger has published more than 100 technical papers and holds over 125 patents or patents pending in electronic cooling technologies. They have also been actively involved in the ASHRAE TC9.9 committee as co-founder and past chair. Roger holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, along with multiple degrees and certifications in mechanical and nuclear engineering.
