Gerard Decatrel

Principal Engineer

Gerard Decatrel is a highly experienced software engineer with a strong background in financial technology and military aviation. Currently serving as a Principal Engineer at Intercontinental Exchange since June 2016, Gerard specializes in back-end development for a high throughput financial trading platform utilizing C++ and Java, while coordinating projects across multiple teams. Prior roles include Vice President at Morgan Stanley, where Gerard traded and hedged Latin American currency options and oversaw the deployment of an electronic trading platform, as well as earlier positions at Morgan Stanley focused on software development for foreign exchange options and at NorthStar Technologies as an IT Consultant. Gerard's military experience as a Captain and Naval Aviator in the United States Marine Corps involved leading combat flight missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a certificate in Computational Finance Mathematics from the Tepper School of Business.
