Cryosphere & Disasters Specialist (Remote Sensing)

Sher Muhammad is a Cryosphere Specialist with over 15 years of experience in cryosphere research and remote sensing, currently serving as the Cryosphere Monitoring Lead at ICIMOD since May 2018. They have published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to various journals, while also leading significant glacier monitoring expeditions in the Karakoram and Nepal. Sher has established the HKH's Snow Update Report (2024), and has secured multiple projects as Principal Investigator and Co-PI. Formerly, they were a postdoctoral researcher at Yunnan University, focusing on glacier melting in High-Mountain Asia, and they hold a PhD in Physical Geography (Glaciology) from the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
