Shiying Chen began their work experience in 2015 at Nelson Biological Labs at Rutgers University, where they served as a Data Analyst/Statistician. Their responsibilities included working with large volumes of data, creating reports, and conducting data-based research. Shiying utilized statistical methods such as correlation analysis, ANOVA, non-parametric tests, Chi-Squared test, and Regression Analysis. Data processing was conducted using SAS and Excel.
Later in 2015, Shiying joined iCIMS as a Principal Data Scientist. In this role, they led a data science team to develop more effective and transparent machine learning models to benefit the business and customers. Shiying played a key role in the entire lifecycle of data science projects, including data extraction, cleaning, analysis, feature engineering, modeling, evaluation, and deployment. Shiying also worked closely with product managers to define project scope and priorities. Shiying extensively used programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL for data management, tabulation, statistical analysis, and modeling.
Shiying Chen has a Master's degree in Statistics from Rutgers University–New Brunswick. They also have a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from the same institution. Prior to that, Shiying Chen obtained a Bachelor of Management degree from East China University of Science and Technology.
