William Coleman's work experience begins in 1998 when they joined Posterscope Ireland as an Operations Executive. Over the course of four years, they were internally promoted to Planning and Buying Manager, where they optimized client spend to maximize revenue. In 2007, they moved to PML Group as a Planning and Buying Manager for one year.
In 2014, Coleman co-founded and served as the CTO of SiteSpy, a company that developed IoT solutions for various industries. William was responsible for software development, web applications, client acquisition, pitching, and operations management. William remained in this role until 2017.
From 2015 to 2019, Coleman worked as a Doctoral Researcher at Xperi Corporation, conducting research on the use of Auditory Scene Analysis principles for optimized audio delivery mechanisms. William conducted perceptual listening tests and used the derived labels for a supervised machine learning investigation.
In 2020, Coleman began working as a Data Scientist at Nokia Bell Labs, focusing on predicting emotion in speech using NLP and audio representations. William also worked on developing a minimum viable product smartphone app for biometric lifestyle monitoring. In the same year, they also worked as a Data Science and Machine Learning Consultant, collaborating with corporate clients and working on personal development projects in the Computer Vision, NLP, and cloud computing space.
Currently, Coleman is working at iCIMS as a Data Scientist. William previously held the role of Senior Data Scientist and is currently serving in that position.
In addition to their professional experience, Coleman also had a background in the creative arts. William worked as a Creative Arts Practitioner in audio and video production from 1998 to 2015, writing, recording, and independently releasing numerous records. William also toured extensively as a solo artist and musician for other artists and ensembles, creating a bespoke solo live looping performance system towards the end of this period.
William Coleman completed their Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies at Dublin City University from 1995 to 1998. William then pursued a Master's degree in Music and Media Technology at Trinity College Dublin, where they studied from 2013 to 2015. Following that, they enrolled in a PhD program at Technological University Dublin, specializing in Audio Machine Learning, which they pursued from 2015 to 2020.
