Historic Resources Manager at ICMS

Stephanie Frank has a diverse work experience in the field of historic preservation and urban planning. Stephanie currently works as a Historic Resources Manager at Innovative Consulting & Management Services, LLC (ICMS) where they provide consulting on National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) compliance for the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Prior to their current position, Stephanie served as an Assistant Editor at the Urban History Association from 2019 to 2022. During their time there, they worked on The Metropole publication.

From 2013 to 2021, Stephanie held the position of Assistant Professor of Urban Planning + Design at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Stephanie'sresponsibilities included conducting research, writing articles, and teaching various courses related to planning history, historic preservation, housing, urban studies, and land use planning. Additionally, they were involved in designing the curriculum for the Graduate Certificate in Historic Preservation.

Before joining the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Stephanie worked as a Senior Historic Resources Coordinator at Sapphos Environmental, Inc. from 2012 to 2013. In this role, they managed projects related to historic resources and general planning, conducted historical research, and advised clients.

Stephanie also gained experience at Historic Resources Group from 2006 to 2009, initially working as an Associate in Preservation Planning and later returning as a Ph.D. candidate. Stephanie'sresponsibilities there involved conducting historical research and documentation to support the firm's projects in surveys, environmental impact reports, tax credit projects, and historic structure reports.

In 2004, Stephanie started their career as an intern at John Cullinane Associates, further gaining exposure to the field.

Stephanie Frank pursued their higher education at various institutions. Stephanie began their academic journey in 2000 and completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies at the University of Maryland in 2003. Following this, they enrolled at the same university and obtained a Master of Arts degree in American Studies between 2003 and 2005. During this period, Stephanie also earned a Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Maryland. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Policy, Planning and Development, with a specialization in Urban Planning, at the University of Southern California from 2005 to 2013.
