Christopher Smith has a long history of working in the technology industry. Christopher began their career in 1995 as Technical Support at the University of Michigan. In 1996, they worked as a PC/Network Technician at The Wellness Plan, where they gained experience installing Windows and DOS, NWClient 4.0, and various applications. The following year, they began working at JSTOR as Quality Control, where they also acted as a minor technical assistant. In 1998, Christopher was employed as a Software Developer at CareerSite, Inc., where they maintained and added new features to search engine and other back-end processes. From 2003 to 2006, they worked as a Software Developer at PowerOne Media, where they wrote and maintained search engine for online recruitment products. Finally, in 2007, Christopher was appointed Director of Technology at Icon Technology Studio.

Christopher Smith attended the University of Michigan from 1994 to 1998, earning a BSE in Computer Engineering with a focus on computer engineering, networking, and AI. Christopher then returned to the University of Michigan from 1998 to 2000, obtaining a ME in Computer Engineering with a focus on intelligent systems.
