Chris Hammel

Chris Hammel is an experienced engineer currently serving as the Embedded Software Manager at ICON since February 2024, focusing on the crane-based Phoenix printing system. Prior to this role, Chris held positions including Senior Controls Engineer at Mach Industries and Senior Software Engineer at The Boring Company, with a career that also includes roles as Lead Software Engineer, Senior PLC Engineer, and Automation Engineer across various companies. Chris has expertise in robotics, having designed and implemented robotic systems, automated mechanical systems, and data acquisition systems. Proficient in CAD design using Solidworks, Chris also served as a Solidworks PDM administrator and has experience in artificial neural network development for autonomous object recognition during an academic tenure as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin, where Chris earned both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
