Marcel Dera

Marcel Dera has a diverse work experience spanning across various roles in cybersecurity, information technology, and management.

Marcel is currently working as a Senior Cybersecurity Vulnerability Engineer at ID.me since March 2022.

Prior to this, Marcel worked at Deutsche Bank as a Senior Vulnerability Monitoring Analyst Assistant Vice President from March 2018 to April 2022.

Marcel also served in the FL Army National Guard as a System Engineer & Cyber Security Analyst from July 2016 to April 2022. During their time there, they were responsible for building and implementing threat monitoring systems, engineering network monitoring tools, and implementing incident response systems.

Before that, Marcel worked as an Information Security Officer at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from May 2016 to April 2022. In this role, they ensured compliance with security regulations, managed local information security programs, conducted IT security audits, and developed policies and procedures for information systems.

Marcel's previous experience includes working as an Information Technology Specialist & Security Advisor at the Department of Veterans' Affairs from April 2013 to April 2022. Marcel served as a Technical Security Advisor and played a key role in information security compliance, risk assessment, and vulnerability assessment.

Marcel also served in the CA Army National Guard as an Automation Information Systems Integrating Manager from June 2011 to April 2013. In this role, they supervised a PC Support operation and oversaw automation and communication equipment.

Marcel's career began in the United States Army, where they served as a Communication Manager & Information Assurance Security Officer from June 2008 to November 2011. Marcel'sresponsibilities included conducting security assessments, identifying technology risks, and establishing positive working relationships with vendors.

Prior to their military career, Marcel worked as a Sales Representative at Capistrano Ford from May 2005 to June 2008.

Marcel began their professional journey in the United States Marine Corps, where they served as a Squad Leader from February 2001 to February 2005.

Marcel Dera has a Master's Degree in Cyber Security and Information Assurance, which they obtained from National University from 2013 to 2014. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science in Project Management and Information System Management at Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University, starting in 2012. In 2005, Marcel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Biola University, completing their studies in 2008.

Marcel Dera has also obtained several certifications in the field of information technology. In August 2012, they became a certified CompTIA A+ technician through CompTIA A+ CE. Marcel also achieved certification as a CompTIA Network+ Network Technician and a CompTIA Security+ Certified Professional during the same time. Additionally, Marcel holds an ITIL certification from EXIN, although the specific details regarding the month and year of its attainment are unknown.
