Patrick Metzger has a diverse work experience across various industries. Patrick started their career as a teacher and manager at The ECC Singers and Private Music Lessons in 2010. In 2011, they worked as a personal assistant for screenwriter Michael Arndt and also as a marketing assistant and teacher at Pono, where they focused on marketing and increasing school enrollment.

From 2013 to 2015, Patrick held roles as a lead data analyst and business development engineer at Morningside Analytics and Graphika Inc., where they worked on optimizing research and data processes and developing client relationships. In 2015, they became a product manager at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, leading the redesign of their websites.

In 2016, Patrick founded The Patterning, a platform dedicated to identifying patterns in music, culture, and the universe. Patrick conducted research and data analysis, created innovative viral concepts, and gave a TEDx Talk.
