Swaran Joji began their work experience in 2011 as a Senior Investment Analyst for Northern Trust Asset Management, where they focused on fixed income credit research for US Municipal Bonds and Asset Backed Securities. They then moved on to DSquare Solutions in 2014, working as a Consultant in Business Development, Partnerships, and Alliances, and later as a Consultant/Project Manager for Cisco Systems. In 2018, Joji joined Smarten Spaces as a Global Project Manager, responsible for managing clients across various countries and developing project management processes. Most recently, they have joined Idexcel as a Technical Project Manager starting in 2022.

Swaran Joji has a strong education background. Swaran completed their Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangalore University from 2005 to 2009. Following that, they pursued a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in International Business from Christ University in Bangalore, which they completed from 2009 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Swaran Joji has also obtained various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Swaran obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in June 2021. Prior to that, they completed the Advanced Corporate Strategy program at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore in August 2019. In 2017, they acquired certifications in IT project management from the Indian School of Business and in Managing projects with Microsoft Project as well as Analysing and Visualizing Data with Power BI from Microsoft. Swaran Joji's interest in cities and urban planning is evident from their certifications in Smart Cities from ETH Zürich in April 2017 and Designing Cities from the University of Pennsylvania in September 2016. Furthermore, they have also completed the Introduction to Systems Engineering course from UNSW in April 2016.
