Conor O'Brien, PhD, currently serves as a Senior Technology Analyst at IDTechEx, focusing on advanced materials research with an emphasis on nanocarbons, including graphene and carbon nanotubes, as well as materials integral to the energy and decarbonisation sectors, particularly in the fuel cell industry. O'Brien previously held the position of Technology Analyst at The University of Manchester, where PhD studies concentrated on the properties of 2D material reinforced nanocomposites, specifically investigating the tearing mechanisms of graphene-rubber composites using X-ray computed tomography. Additionally, O'Brien contributed to Infineon Technologies as an Assistant Customer Logistics Manager, leading a project on Industry 4.0 and customer ordering behaviors, and gained initial experience in research during a role as a Working Student and Bachelor Student. O'Brien earned a PhD in Graphene from The University of Manchester and a Bachelor's Degree in Nanoscience, Physics & Chemistry of Advanced Materials from Trinity College Dublin.
