Athanasios Kakarountas

Dr. Athanasios Kakarountas is the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Thessaly, where they currently serve as a Professor. They hold a Diploma and Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, as well as an MBA from Cyprus Open University. Throughout their career, Dr. Kakarountas has contributed significantly to research in computer architecture and embedded systems, participating in over 30 funded research projects and publishing more than 100 articles. They have held various leadership roles, including Vice-Chair of the Greece IEEE Section and co-Chair of the eGOV Special Technical Committee of the IEEE Computer Society.
