Dick Gowen currently serves as the President and CEO of Dakota Power, LLC, a research and development company focused on creating lightweight electric drives for both military and civilian uses, a venture started in February 2007. Additionally, Dick Gowen has held the position of President at the IEEE Foundation since 2004. Prior experience includes serving as the Executive Director of the Homestake Recovery Project in the South Dakota Governor's Office from 2003 to 2004 and as President of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology from January 1987 to June 2003. Dick Gowen earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University.
