Richard Candell, PhD, is a distinguished expert in industrial wireless systems and cybersecurity, currently serving as Principal Investigator at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) since October 2013. Candell leads the development of testbeds for industrial cyber-physical systems, focusing on performance under challenging communication conditions. As IEEE P3388 Chair since November 2021, Candell contributes to advancing engineering standards. Prior experience includes serving as President and Principal Engineer at Orinoco Technologies, Inc., and holding significant engineering roles at Thales, SOTAS, Orbital Sciences Corporation, Nokia, Celcore Systems, and Louisiana-Pacific Corporation.
