Benjamin Wiacek

Contributor at IFAW

Highlighting stories that deserve attention, especially when contributing to a better world, has always been Benjamin’s motto in his career.

After graduating from his Law studies, he moved to Yemen to work as a journalist. Covering the historical 2011 revolution in Yemen for a wide range of international media, he shed light on several under-reported stories in the country until 2014. He then moved to Tunisia where he became the Associated Press’ correspondent Video Journalist.

Wanting to have a more concrete impact in his career, he left journalism in 2016 to join Oxfam GB for whom he supervised the communication work of their Yemen office, trying to generate media interest on the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

Today, as a Communications Manager for IFAW in the EU office, which he joined in 2018, he supports the advocacy efforts to European institutions regarding the issues of wildlife crime, marine conservation and biodiversity. In a challenging and competing environment, he raises awareness to help animals and people thrive together.
