Abbas Lightwalla is a copyright lawyer with extensive experience in the global recorded music industry. Abbas has worked as the Director of Global Legal Policy at IFPI, where Abbas is currently focused on shaping legal policy discussions concerning copyright and artificial intelligence. Prior to this, Abbas worked at Bird & Bird as an Associate specializing in intellectual property and media law. Abbas also served as the Intellectual Property Counsel at DAZN on secondment from Bird & Bird. Abbas has a solid educational background, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford, as well as a GDL and LPC leading to an LL.B in Law from Kaplan Law School.
