Stephan Jorry is the Deputy Scientific Director at Ifremer, having transitioned to this role in 2024 after 16 years as a marine geologist within the organization. Previously, they served as a Consultant Geologist at Beicip-Franlab from 2006 to 2009 and as a Research Assistant at Rice University from 2005 to 2006. Jorry's research focused on carbonate sedimentology and paleoenvironments, examining the evolution of carbonate banks, barrier reefs, and atolls during the Neogene and Quaternary periods. They hold a Postdoctoral degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Geneva and are currently pursuing a PhD in the same field at Université de Genève.
