Nigel Etherington

Nigel Etherington has an extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Nigel is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at iGEN Technologies Inc. since May 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Director & Co-Founder at Isla Power, an independent power company, from December 2015. At Isla Power, they were involved in project development, project finance, and grid edge power advisory services.

Before that, Nigel founded and served as the Principal at Planet & Company starting from February 2014. In 2022, they worked as the Interim COO at Efficiency Capital. Nigel also served as the Board Chair at Efficiency Capital Corp from January 2015 to June 2018.

In addition, Nigel has held positions on the board of Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) from December 2013 to December 2015. Nigel worked as the Chief Technology Officer at Potentia Solar Inc. from October 2009 to February 2014, where they focused on the development of solar energy technology. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Operating Officer at Potentia Energy Services LP from January 2008 to May 2011.

Nigel started their career as the Principal at Etherington & Associates from January 2005 to December 2007. Nigel also briefly worked as the Director of Alliance Sales at Blueprint Software Systems Inc. in 2006.

Nigel Etherington has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Engineering Physics from Queen's University. Nigel also holds an M.Sc. in Medical Physics & Electronics from the University of London. In addition to their degrees, Nigel obtained the Professional Engineer (PE) certification from Professional Engineers Ontario in July 1998. Nigel completed the Canadian Securities Course offered by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) in August 1997, and later attended the Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Course at the CSI in September 2000. Nigel also has a Duolingo Spanish Fluency: Intermediate (Estimated) certification from Duolingo, which they obtained in March 2016.
