Jack Xia, Ph.D.

Jack Xia, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the insurance technology (insurtech) industry. Jack started their career in 2014 as an Actuarial Analyst at Munich Re (Group), where they worked on SQL-based insurance data management systems, including policy projection models and portfolio projection models.

In 2016, Jack joined Axinan, a seed-stage insurtech company, as the Chief Actuary. In this role, they played a key role in pushing the boundaries of insurtech in the region. Jack led the development of innovative insurtech products by utilizing their skills in various areas, including insurance products and regulation, cloud technology and security, excel and financial modeling, and Python and API. Under their leadership, Axinan achieved significant milestones, such as introducing transit insurance to Indonesia's leading e-commerce platform, launching the first cross-border transit insurance to three continents, and developing the first phone screen protection app with patented technology. Jack also spearheaded the creation of the first IoT motor insurance in Thailand sandbox and the integration of gadget insurance platforms with e-commerce, telecoms, and e-wallets. Jack is excited to announce new projects in 2022.

In 2019, Jack took on the role of Director at Axinan Labuan, a subsidiary of Axinan. This Singapore-based insurtech company became the first Southeast Asian company to secure a combined general and reinsurance license from Labuan FSA. The license enabled Axinan to underwrite general and reinsurance risks, strengthening its offerings and facilitating strategic partnerships.

Jack Xia, Ph.D. completed their education in a chronological manner. Jack obtained their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics from Nanyang Technological University Singapore in 2010, where they studied for four years. Later, from 2010 to 2014, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Mathematics from the same institution.

In addition to their formal education, Jack Xia has also obtained several certifications.
