Ben Garside

Ben Garside is the Principal Researcher and Head of Energy at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), bringing eighteen years of experience in international development, including fourteen years in renewable energy. With a Master of Engineering from Imperial College London and an MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics, Ben specializes in strategic leadership and management, focusing on innovative energy solutions for marginalized communities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. They have co-led initiatives to establish socially equitable energy systems and led monitoring and evaluation efforts on large-scale energy projects, significantly contributing to energy access advocacy and sustainable development goals.
