Lucy Earle

Director, Human Settlements Group

Lucy Earle is the Group Director at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and serves as the Principal Researcher leading a GCRF-funded study on refugee and IDP livelihoods in multiple countries. Earle also heads IIED's Global Engagement Theme on the Humanitarian/Environment interface and contributes to the organization's work on housing and informal settlements in the global south. Previously, they worked as an Urban Advisor for DFID, advocating for tailored responses to urban humanitarian crises, and held positions at UNICEF and the University of Cape Town, focusing on social development and informal settlement research. Earle holds a PhD in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from the School of Advanced Study, University of London.
