In Nigeria, over 1 million students fail at least one of the matriculation examinations needed for admission into tertiary institutions every year. This means millions of students are permanently locked out of tertiary education each year, not necessarily because they lack intelligence, but because their learning gaps are never identified and corrected early enough.
