The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation (IEJF) funds and supports 
nonprofit organizations providing free legal assistance to people 
in need. Through strategic grantmaking, IEJF directs state funds to organizations that help people overcome legal barriers to housing, safety, employment, and benefits.

As a bridge between government and community, IEJF strengthens Illinois’ civil legal aid network and ensures more people can navigate the civil justice system with fairness, dignity, and confidence.

Since our first grant cycle in 2000, we’ve awarded more than $95 million in state grants to support struggling families, seniors, veterans, and those impacted by cannabis-related convictions.
