Paul Best has a wealth of experience in engineering, computer science, and research. Paul began their career in 2001 as an Observatory Operator, Teachers Assistant, and Tutor at Wheaton College, where they ran study sessions in mathematics, lectured, and tutored students in math and computer science. In 2002, they joined The Village Group as a Developer, where they collaborated in the development of the DOORS operating system and conducted technical and market feasibility research. In 2005, they moved to Gamma Technologies, Inc. as a Project Engineer, where they designed and implemented a new simplified operating system interface for the company's complete line of software. In 2006, they joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as an Optical Engineer II (Team Leader), where they led a team of eight people in designing, developing, and testing cutting edge algorithms, software, and hardware for advanced optical systems. Paul also played a key role in the design and development of the AO (adaptive optics) system of the Gemini Planet Imager, as well as the external metrology and phase estimation systems of the Space Interferometry Mission. In 2011, they joined ImageXpert as Chief Executive Officer, Director of Engineering, Manager of Applications Engineering and Technical Sales, and Applications Engineer.
Paul Best completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science at Wheaton College from 2001 to 2005. Paul then furthered their education with a Master of Science in Physics at California State University, Los Angeles from 2007 to 2010. In 2003 and 2004, Paul studied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Manitoba. In addition, they received tutoring from an MIT engineer in CAD and Design Principles from 1998 to 2000. Finally, Paul completed a Master of Business Administration from the University of the People in 2020.
