Ben Livermore

Ben Livermore has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Ben started their career as a Senior Developer at Six Red Marbles, where they led the development of educational software products and managed the web-software for publishing clients. Ben then moved on to WGBH as a Senior Web Application Developer, where they led a technical team in redesigning the NOVA website and introduced new software and policies to improve efficiencies.

Ben then joined Six Red Marbles again, this time as Chief Technologist, where they developed technology strategies and processes for educational software. Ben also worked closely with educational publishers to design and create software products.

In 2011, Ben became the Chief Engineer and Director of Technology at Amplify Teaching, an educational software startup. Ben was involved in the design and coding of a mobile web app and managed source control, databases, and cloud-based servers.

Ben continued their career at Cengage Learning, where they served as an Engineering Manager/Tech Lead. Ben coded the front end of the company's online course software and led Agile teams. Ben also conducted trainings on TDD and clean code principles and managed developers and team allocation.

After Cengage, Ben worked at Philo as a Software Engineer, where they helped deliver TV over the internet for a startup. Ben also transitioned the team to Kanban agile methodologies and implemented Jasmine unit testing for React components.

Next, Ben joined WeSpire as a Senior Software Engineer, where they architected and coded a single page application for an employee engagement startup. Ben worked closely with the product team and incorporated analytics into the application.

Ben then joined Intellify Learning as a Senior Software Engineer, where they led a team in building the front end of an educational analytics platform. Ben coded and architected the platform using React/Redux and implemented visualizations in DC.js.

Currently, Ben is working at Imagine Learning as a Principal Software Engineer.

Ben Livermore attended Middlebury College from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. Ben then pursued a postgraduate degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2004 to 2005, obtaining an ED.M degree in Technology in Education.
