Chris Bier has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Chris began their career as a Programming Intern at Communitech in 2000 and 2001. Chris then worked as a Computer Science Lab Administrator at William Jewell College from 1998 to 2002, where they managed lab computers and provided network administration support. From 2002 to 2013, Chris served as a Sysadmin, Webmaster, and Developer at Liberty Public Schools, where they administered Linux servers, maintained district and internal websites, and authored software using various programming languages.
In 2013, Chris joined Blackboard as a Systems Administrator, where they managed multiple farms of Linux, Sun, and Windows machines for different products. Chris also developed tools for object storage management and implemented new monitoring and log analysis tools. Chris then moved to iManage in 2015 as a Team Lead - Site Reliability Engineer. In this role, they led a team in developing and operating Kubernetes and other technologies for multi-tenant environments distributed globally. Chris was responsible for setting up monitoring systems, automation, and statistics for cloud services.
Throughout their career, Chris has demonstrated a strong technical skillset using languages such as PHP, CakePHP, Python, Perl, Bash Scripting, and Java. Chris also has experience with system administration tools like Nagios, Snort, and MRTG.
Chris Bier attended William Jewell College from 1998 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science.
