Jef Van Asch is currently an R&D Engineer at imec, specializing in silicon photonics and co-packaged optics. Jef completed their PhD research at imec and UGent from 2021 to 2025, building on earlier experience as an assistant researcher at Ghent University in 2015. They previously worked as a product specialist at XENOMATIX from 2016 to 2021 and as an inspector for the food chain safety at FAVV-AFSCA in 2010. Jef holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Photonics Engineering from the University of Ghent and Politecnico di Milano, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics.
