Jonathan Borremans is a seasoned expert in the field of electrical and electronics engineering, currently serving as a Strategic Advisor for AI at imec and for funding at VerticalCompute since 2025. Previously, Jonathan held a board member position at Flanders Semiconductors from 2023 to 2024, supporting the Flemish Semiconductor industry. As the Founder, CTO, and Board Member of Spectricity from 2017 to 2024, Jonathan led the deeptech startup, raising over 30 million euros. Jonathan's extensive experience at imec from 2004 to 2018 includes roles as Program Manager and Head of the design group focused on specialty image sensors, as well as Principal Scientist and R&D Project Manager. In addition, Jonathan contributed to the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference from 2012 to 2014 as a member of the Technical Program Committee. Academically, Jonathan holds a PhD and a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and completed a Mini MBA through Coursera.
