Robert Carpenter has a diverse work experience in the field of magnetic and superconducting thin films. Robert worked as an R&D Team Lead for imec since April 2022. Prior to that, they were a Researcher at imec from December 2017 to April 2022. Robert also worked at Seagate Technology as a Magnetics Specialist from October 2015 to November 2017. In this role, they were responsible for developing new metrology for characterizing next-generation Hard Disk Drive read-heads and managing a strategic development team. Before joining Seagate, Robert worked as a Junior Academic at the University of York from October 2010 to August 2015. Robert'sresponsibilities included conducting magnetic and structural characterizations, designing and lecturing a Labview course, and supervising final year students. Additionally, Robert had a research internship at Seagate in June-August 2014, where they applied their academic skills to industrial projects related to their PhD research.
Robert Carpenter completed their education at the University of York. In 2007, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, which they then followed with a Master of Science degree in Magnetic Materials from 2010 to 2011. Finally, from 2012 to 2015, Robert completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Magnetic Materials from the same university.
