Athanasios Kefalas is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the mining and minerals industry. Currently serving as a Board Member at KEMEL Non Profit Organization since November 2019, Athanasios also holds the position of General Manager for Bentonite & Perlite Intermediates at Imerys since March 2015. Prior to this role, Athanasios worked at S&B Industrial Minerals S.A. from May 1981 to February 2015, culminating in the position of General Manager for the Southern Europe Region, alongside various other roles. Athanasios possesses deep expertise in designing, planning, and operating both open pit and underground mines, as well as managing mineral processing plants. Education includes an Executive MBA from INSEAD in 1998 and a Diploma in Mining and Metallurgy from NTUA obtained in 1978.
