Michael Römer graduated at the top of their class in Bioinformatics from the University of Tübingen in 2013. They completed a PhD focused on developing statistical and machine learning models for transcriptomics data as part of the EU-funded IMI-MARCAR project. After their PhD, Michael worked at Immatics as a Bioinformatics Scientist and later as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, where they analyzed RNAseq and mass-spectrometry data while developing and maintaining databases. Currently, Michael serves as the Associate Director of Bioinformatics, leading the Data Engineering team and overseeing data management and analysis efforts.
