Paul Rail

Paul Rail is a software engineer who currently works at Impact Mapper. Prior to that, they worked as a React-Native / Ruby on Rails developer at Matter Product Studio and as a Ruby on Rails developer at BetterCo. Paul has also worked as a financial advisor at Tangerine Investment Funds.

Paul has experience in building full-stack applications with React-Native for the frontend that makes API calls using endpoints to communicate with the backend, which is built with Ruby on Rails and as API. Paul is also experienced in designing and execution of database modeling. Paul follows standard Git Flow practices with regular creation of branches, commits, pull requests.

At BetterCo, Paul was responsible for developing new features and solving issues on various projects to help improve successful client conversion, retention and engagement. Paul modernised the sign-in process from an e-mail + password system to a more user friendly SMS token system. Paul also modernised a client registration system from being entirely manual to being completely automatic. In addition, they created testing suites for every new feature with Minitest and Capybara.

Prior to their work in software engineering, Paul worked as a financial advisor at Tangerine Investment Funds.

Paul Rail's educational career consists of a Full-Stack Development Certification from Microverse, a Full Stack Web Development Certification from Free Code Camp, and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) from Queen's University. Paul also has a certification from freeCodeCamp in Front End Development.
