Neil Derraugh has extensive work experience in various technical roles. Neil currently holds the position of Technical Director at Improving, starting in August 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Technical Discipline Leader at Improving from March 2022 to August 2022.
Before joining Improving, Neil worked at YoppWorks as a Technical Discipline Leader from October 2019 to February 2022. Neil also worked as a Reactive Microservices Software Developer at YoppWorks from February 2019 to October 2019.
Neil served as a Data Engineer at Joule Inc. from June 2018 to January 2019 and as a Principal Data Services Engineer at Intellify Learning from August 2016 to May 2018.
Neil gained experience at XPO Logistics, Inc. as a Data Science Team Lead from June 2014 to July 2016 and as an Application Engineer from June 2013 to June 2014.
Neil started their career as an Application Developer at Kinaxis from March 2011 to May 2013. Neil also co-founded mobilSemantic Inc. and worked as a Co-Founder from January 2009 to April 2013.
Additionally, Neil worked as an Application Developer at Tsavo Media Inc. from June 2009 to January 2011 and as a Web Developer/BI Developer at InjuryBoard from May 2008 to June 2009.
Neil Derraugh completed their Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Mathematics at the University of Waterloo from 2002 to 2008. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications. In November 2020, they obtained certifications in various areas such as Akka Cluster - Fundamentals, Akka Cluster - Sharding (Scala), Akka Streams for Scala - Professional, Akka for Scala - Professional, Data Engineering - Cloudflow Principles, Data Engineering - Data Principles, and Scala Language - Professional from Lightbend, Inc. In December 2018, they obtained the certification for LFS158x: Introduction to Kubernetes from edX. Furthermore, in May 2018, they completed the certification for The Arduino Platform and C Programming, and in April 2018, they completed the certification for Introduction to the Internet of Things and Embedded Systems, both from Coursera. Lastly, they obtained the Certified Reactive Architect certification from Lightbend, Inc. in October 2019, and the Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certifications from Scrum Alliance in March 2020.
