Inception Studio Capital backs the world’s most experienced founders building the future of AI.

Founded by John Whaley (Stanford PhD, Forbes AI 50, 3x founder) and Mike Morris (28-year Silicon Valley veteran with three acquisitions and an IPO), we are an early-stage venture fund investing in AI-native companies at the moment of inception.

Our edge comes from Inception Studio—the most selective founder community in Silicon Valley for experienced AI builders. Through our zero-equity, high-trust retreats and buildathons, we attract serial entrepreneurs, exited founders, and senior technologists ready to start their next company. Because we take no equity upfront, we eliminate adverse selection and build deep relationships before investing.

The results speak for themselves:
	•	235 experienced founders
	•	82% repeat entrepreneurs, 32% with prior exits
	•	42 companies launched, raising $164M+ from top VCs (a16z, Khosla, etc.)
	•	Founder NPS 84

Our funding model is simple:
	•	$100K starter checks in ~40 companies
	•	$500K–$1.5M follow-on checks in 12 winners
	•	With MFN and pro-rata rights to double down on breakout successes

We focus exclusively on AI-native startups—founders building real, defensible products that transform how industries work, not just “AI features.” Our founders are experienced operators solving hard problems in domains like healthcare, legal, industrial automation, and human-computer interaction.

At Inception, we believe the next generation of $10B AI companies won’t come from dorm rooms—they’ll come from experienced builders who have been here before.
