Indian History Journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access, quarterly journal dedicated to advancing rigorous scholarship on the histories of the Indian subcontinent and its interconnected land and maritime worlds. The journal embraces a broad chronological canvas, from ancient and medieval formations to early modern and contemporary transformations, situating South Asia within wider regional and global processes.

Committed to methodological pluralism and theoretical innovation, the journal welcomes interdisciplinary approaches that engage political, social, economic, cultural, intellectual, environmental, and transnational histories. Particular emphasis is placed on cross-border interactions linking the subcontinent with Central Asia, West Asia, Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean world, and beyond. By foregrounding both terrestrial and maritime networks, the journal seeks to illuminate the dynamic exchanges that have shaped the region’s past.

The journal operates under a rigorous double-blind peer review system to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and analytical depth. All submissions are evaluated by subject specialists and assessed on the basis of scholarly merit, evidentiary strength, conceptual clarity, and contribution to existing historiography.

As an open-access platform, Indian History Journal is committed to the free and global dissemination of knowledge. It adheres strictly to the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows internationally recognized best practices in publication ethics, transparency, and research integrity.
