Ramkumar Ramamoorthy is currently a Partner with Catalincs Partners and the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Professional Learning at Krea University. Prior to this, he was the Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant, India, responsible for the company’s largest global operations footprint spanning 13 cities with over 200,000 employees. Cognizant is a Fortune 200 and NASDAQ-100 company.
Ramkumar has about 30 years of experience in the information technology industry as well as in academia. During his 22 years with Cognizant, he incubated, nurtured and grew more than half a dozen portfolios and held various leadership positions in the company including Executive Director, India and Chief Knowledge Officer. Prior to joining Cognizant, Ramkumar worked for Tata Consultancy Services.
Ramkumar spent the first six years of his professional career as an academician and continued to stay in touch with the academia through his long career in the industry. In the past three decades, he has been on academic leadership boards of several universites, academic bodies and institutions including the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the IT/BPM Skill Sector Council of NASSCOM, VIT University, Xavier Institute of Management, the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, and University of Madras. Most recently, Ramkumar joined the leadership team of the Chennai Mathematical Institute, one of the premier institutions for teaching and research in math, computer science, physics and data science.
Ramkumar has had long association with several professional and trade bodies in India. He is a Past President of the 185-year old Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and a past Vice-Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in India. He has also worked closely with other leading chambers of commerce in India including the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Associated Chambers of Commerce in India (ASSOCHAM), US-India Business Council (USIBC) and US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF).
